I'm not too informed on oil policy, but I've heard a million times that the "war" there is over oil. At first I immagined a bunch of US troops patrolling around making sure nobody attacks while US military oil trucks jack thier oil and run away. Like the war was some kind of distraction.
That's just my immagination though and it gets out there sometimes... the only way I think it would REALLY work would be to force the government there to do the work for us and sell us the oil for cheap or nothing. Am I wrong? Is anybody here a bit more savvy on the subject?
PLUS, I read in TIMEs about a year and a half ago about the same preplans to invade Iraq had already been happening in Iran... WHY?
