RE: Christianity and Religion in media, etc

Of course I do, if the author or singer of a song suffers from the god delusion then so be it, if I enjoy the music I will listen to it. If the subject matter is religious I probably won't.

The worst thing is when a song gets warped to fit with a culture.
Case in point-> John Lennon's Imagine is often modified in the USA from "and no religion too" to "and one religion too" or the line is simply removed. I hate the fact that people warp the author's intention. It's like calling Albert Einstein a christian because he used the term 'god', he was, in fact, a pantheist, and had no concept of the ludicrous Xian god (the same goes for Stephen Hawking).

very insightful.
he was jewish anyway. that's the only reason he came to america.

but... if you were singing along (maybe performing it at a talent show or something), in your opinion, would you still sing the line about religion, or alter it like what you said about John Lennon.

and that brings another thing into my mind: the pledge of allegiance.

AH, the pledge of allegiance.

"I pledge my unquestioning faith,
to a peice of fabric,
that represents a ton of individuals who are currently being lead to war, regardless of thier position on killing innocent individuals in a place they have nothing to do with,
and to the people who control them,
and the controlled people from which they take,
ultimately divisble by race, popularity, money, or any other form of status,
with liberty and justice... for a few."

Though almost certainly fodder for a new thread, isn't it amusing, sad, and interesting that the religous right in the US have latched onto the pledge of allegiance despite the fact that it was written by an extreme socialist and clearly falls within the socialist camp?
