I'm a 32-year-old Portuguese guy, divorced, living with 3 cats near Lisbon, Portugal. I work at home as a freelance writer / blogger / web designer.

I like reading, video games, Unix-like systems, heavy metal music, cats, interesting people (rare, these days, from my experience), and weird humor like Pokey the Penguin. People I admire (some of them are dead, though) include Ayn Rand, Chris Avellone, Jeff Minter, Winston Churchill, J. R. R. Tolkien, Bruce Dickinson, Roger Waters, Shigeru Miyamoto and Douglas Adams.

I dislike stupidity, cowardice, mental laziness, apathy, ignorance, people who think they "know enough" and hate having to learn anything new, Microsoft and their software, collectivism, religious fanatics, commercial music, George W. Bush and whoever supports him, people who don't like cats, pointy-haired bosses and liars / dishonest people.

I'm an atheist, though I was a Christian for most of my life. Politically, I tend towards Libertarianism (which is quite a lot like Ayn Rand's Objectivism, though both sites don't want to admit it) - basically, I believe both "liberals" and "conservatives" (or "left-wing" and "right-wing") are two sides of the same coin, and are in fact both collectivists. I'd rather have individualism, thank you very much. I believe in personal responsability (i.e. I refuse the idea that either the government or society should act as a babysitter), and in individual freedom and individual pursuit of happiness - not in any kind of sacrifice for some undefined "greater good", or in the legislation of morality.
